1. For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the Canvas tab.
3. Turn off Enable canvas scroll bars.
   NoteYou can still use the Zoom and Move tool to view those parts of the image that are off the screen.

By optimizing settings to work with your type of system, you can change the brush cursor display.

1. For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the Brush tab.
3. In the Preferences window, select one of the following:
   • Display cross-hair – a cross-hair always appears at the brush cursor location.
     NoteIf you are running Windows Vista, using a Wacom tablet, and your cursor does not appear, follow the instructions above and select the Display cross-hair option.
   • Do not display cross-hair – displays only the brush stamp preview at the brush cursor location.
   • Best for your hardware – the recommended setting. The brush cursor appears as a cross-hair, if appropriate.

Removing the brush outline

1. By default, a brush outline appears for the smear brush, eraser, and other low-opacity brushes, such as the airbrush. This outline lets you see the size of the brush before you start drawing.

   

   For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the Brush tab.
   • To turn off the brush outline for low-opacity brushes, de-select Display outline when brush opacity is low.
   • To turn off the brush outline for erasers, de-select Display outline for erasers.
   • To turn off the brush outline for smear brushes, de-select Display outline for smear brushes.

Some machines use the Page Up and Page Down keys differently for browsing to previous or next files.

In addition, some systems (for example, Tablet PCs) use built-in keys for Page Up and Page Down, which confuses some users.

1. For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the General tab.
3. In the Page Up section, click one of the following setting to set up the program behavior that works best for your system.
   • Open next image
   • Open previous image

1. For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the General tab.
3. Enter the number of undos in Maximum undos.

   The maximum value is 50, but we recommend a lower value for optimal speed and performance.

   NoteChanging the number of undos only takes effect once a file is created or another one is imported. We recommend you restart SketchBook.

By default, the size of a new image is the size of the display.

To specify a custom size:

1. For PC users, select Edit > Preferences.

   For Mac users, select SketchBook Pro > Preferences.

2. Click the Canvas tab.
3. De-select Use width and height of window.
4. Enter the width and height in the fields provided (choose from pixels, inches, cm, or mm).
   NoteThe maximum size is 6400 x 6400 pixels.
5. Change the resolution, if you want (choose from pixels/inch, pixels/cm, or pixels/mm).

   This change takes place when you create a file.

6. To use the default display size again, click Use width and height of window.

For PC users, by associating a program to a file type, you can open files of that type into that program by default. For example, if you double-click the files, the associated program opens them.

To change these associations:

1. Select Edit > Preferences.
2. Click the System tab.
3. Under Associated File Types, select the image file types you want to associate to Autodesk SketchBook Pro.
