Microsoft Mail System Software: Connects Systems by Mail

With Microsoft(R) Mail, microcomputer users connected over
a local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), or
gateway can exchange messages, files, and programs with
 one another.

Microsoft Mail users have access to a collective mail-drop
facility called a postoffice. The postoffice you create
when you install Mail is called a local postoffice. You
can create additional postoffices called external
postoffices. These external postoffices can serve other
users on your LAN, or users on postoffices on other
networks that are connected to the local postoffice by a
 telecommunications link.

Your LAN may service a single postoffice or many
postoffices. Every postoffice has an administrator, who
takes care of the administrative tasks that allow users to
 communicate with each other.

Important: Before you install the Microsoft Mail system
software, read the Setup and Update Procedures section
of the Microsoft Mail Administrators Guide.
